Review on Enhanced HPS3000 Studio Headphones by Behringer by Kim Major

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great headphones at a very reasonable price!

I've been using Behringer HPS3000 headphones for about four years until a few weeks ago I forgot about them and tried to move away from the console. This time I decided to try a different model as I could return them if they didn't work and I could always fall back on another pair of HPS3000s. I chose the HPX2000 because they cost the same as the HPS3000 but have a slightly different design. I was willing to write a devastating review and return the product. I plugged the headphones into my laptop to try them out and it sounded like I was listening to music on a 1960's phone. It turns out to be a problem with the headphone jack on my laptop. ANY headphones I plugged into it sounded exactly the same. But then I connected it to my phone and my music sounded amazing! Very rich bass - even the deepest frequencies - and clear highs. With a frequency range of 20-20,000 Hz, they accurately reproduce almost everything you want to hear. In fact, they can reproduce lower frequencies than my phone. They don't hit the ultra-low frequencies hard enough to knock you out, but they're not designed to do that either. That's what 15-inch subwoofers are for. The sound from them is as good as the sound from the HPS3000. I would compare them to headphones that cost three to four times as much. They definitely don't sound like your average pair of $20 headphones! My only gripe - and not enough to deduct a star - is that I wish they had oval earcups so they fit better around the ear. They're still quite comfortable, but I prefer the HPS3000 oval earcups. It would also be nice if they had a detachable cable. So if I forget to take them off and move away from the console and ruin the connector at the end of the cable, I only have to replace the cable, not the headphones themselves.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish
