Inexpensive: saw jigs

Handy marking tool. I checked the square with the set square and hit the bull's eye. There was a very small burr on the outer corner which I removed with 1000g sandpaper on a flat stone, very easy to fix. The machined surface provides even contact, so I know this is true on the plane as well, at both 90 and 45 degree angles. Worth a small investment.
