I have carefully inspected every tool I have purchased, checking the degree of sharpening and re-sharpening when necessary (not much). I ground and polished the bevels to razor sharpness and made a few test cuts with each of them. These Schaaf are a high-quality woodcarving chisel set. I dare say that my Swiss productions have the few English or Japanese blues that I have. I don't see any flaws in the quality of the steel, it's well hardened and polished. Wooden handles, octagonal, machined. The kit comes with a really nice roll of soft lined tools. And I mean it's a great tool roll - don't complain about it. I am VERY impressed with this set and at only $7.50 per tool it is excellent value. Get one before they go away. Edit: wanted to add a VS - not just this set but all wood carving chisel "sets" - only comes with 1 V tool and a profiling tool which is actually a small U tool. I'd like everyone who makes these sets to stop getting a straight chisel because everyone already has one, or a carpenter's chisel. Instead, insert two V-shaped tools - one larger and one smaller. This is what everyone needs and what is always lacking. My 2 cents. Still a 'best' buy for a wood carving set.
