Nikon Action 16x50 EX ATB binoculars review - April 2013 I don't work for Nikon and my pockets weren't stuffed with the company that sells them. Like many of you, I sometimes wonder how many reviews are written by people who have been paid to leave a positive word about a product but have never used it personally. I bought these binoculars with my hard earned money because I wanted good glasses for spotting planes in the area I work for the CoES. I have to say that the reviews that say they wobble without anything to fix them are totally valid, but that's only because these binoculars have the ability to bring objects at a distance to your eyes like no other pair. I don't really have this problem, I find them very useful for loose support without rigid posture or elbow brace when looking into the lenses. When I hold them in a natural position the wobble is minimal and I would rather have them than a lower gauge like 10x50. I also read some reviews saying they are heavy, well they are not heavy. If you're a 72-year-old woman, they might seem difficult to you, but for a man in his 30s, they're not difficult at all. My colleagues at the airfield have tried them and they all love the view they see. If you see Boeing 737 and MD-88 landing a mile away with these binoculars, you'll have the same view as if you were 200 feet from the runway - no earplugs required. Boeing is building a 787 for me and I've even given these binoculars to other commercial pilots on the airstair so they can watch the new 787 take off and land. They love the view and always return the binoculars with a big smile on their face and from the heart Thank you. We all know that our commercial pilots are paid very little for what they do, so I'm really happy to make their day a little bit better with little investment. Everyone I work with and interact with at work loves these binoculars and so do I. The airbase is a good mile across the field, but from where I'm standing on the commercial side I can read the tail numbers of the C-17 Globemasters parked on the airbase's ramp. Without binoculars, they're just little strands of gray. I love things like that, Nikon made great binoculars at a great price. As someone who enjoys discovering planes and getting paid to do so, I put them in my work bag every day so I have them on hand at all times. Daily.
