The extra pins don't fit exactly.
I had to supply my flashlight as separate kits because the pins in this splitter weren't tight enough. If you had to hang it at an angle like I did, they kept popping up. I gave up and now only use 2 remote controls. Since I keep these lights on 24/7, it's not a huge problem, just an annoyance.
