Review on Polk Audio 5 25 Inch Coaxial Speakers by Omar Card

Revainrating 5 out of 5

DB521s and 2004 Wrangler TJ

I have been a long time fan of Polk audio systems and use their speakers for my home theater. They arrived quickly as is usual with Revain and the product was packaged very nicely. I had no problems with the delivery. The car I installed these speakers in is a 2004 Wrangler and they were installed in front speaker boxes with 4x6 to 5.25 adapters sold at Revain ($14). They were pretty easy to install, especially after spending a few minutes planning how to install them. They have regular connectors that you can use quick connectors for. I ended up buying some cheap ones from Auto Zone for about $3 for a pack of 20. Gasket for a good seal, two speakers, 8 long and 8 short screws and a grille. The only annoying downside to this set is that the smaller screws won't work if you need spacers. They are approximately 1/6 inch long and are used to attach speakers to a regular speaker slot. This means they are too short to be used with a grid or spacer. Luckily I had a couple of drywall screws that were almost identical to the 8 larger screws and I was able to attach them with no problems. I've uploaded some photos of how they fit and the smaller screws. I'm sure they will probably work to some extent, but I don't want to risk them failing because very little plastic will hold them up. Great product and good value. In fact, their price is so cheap that they're about $30 cheaper than Crutchfield or other comparable competitors. They offer a great variety of sounds and have completely changed the sound of my car. The audio from the front speakers is still lagging a bit, but I find I need to use a power supply for my H/U as they should sound much cleaner when given more power. Jeep is also pretty terrible when it comes to acoustics. Overall I am very happy with my Polk products and will definitely be buying the 521 and 621 in the future.
