I had a hole (well more like a notch) in my exhaust. I put a large amount of putty on it and you need to start the engine (not at high RPM) so the heat from the exhaust will cure the putty faster. The problem is that the putty "melts" first and just spits out of the hole instead of sealing. After heating, it hardens. I had to apply several coats after each was dry from the exhaust so the hole got smaller and smaller each time. I think this putty is best used when repairing the exhaust trim to keep it in place and not blow out due to exhaust pressure. It's been 3 months and he's still holding out.
