I have a Xeon x5690 so I figured this would be what I need. It turns out that my Asus P6T6 WS Revolution uses an i7 lga1366 backplate instead of a Xeon backplate. That means I should have received the NH-D14 model instead. Luckily I bought an NM-i3 mounting kit from this site for less than $10 and was able to install it. I also bought a second fan separately to get a push-pull configuration and my temperature is around 38C at idle and around 50C at full load (3dmark and Cinebench 5 times simultaneously) and with my Nanoxia Deep Silence 1 case I can't hear anything. This is a hot chip, typically running at over 60C with standard cooling, so the fan works just fine. Update: It looks like the thermal paste has cured for a few days now and my standby temp has dropped to 20s/30s. .
