Review on Manfrotto 032SPL Autopole Spirit πŸ“Έ Level: Enhancing Stability and Precision for Photography by Kimberly Becker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent as is or customized

I was skeptical because of the price. And it's supposedly too big for what I wanted. But I ordered anyway to see if I could solve my problem. My problem was the following: My tripod does not have a spirit level on the legs. Head alignment is useless when legs are uneven, especially for panoramas. So I contacted Manfrotto on their website and found that this should only work with 1" to 3" bars. My tripod's center post was less than an inch. But out of desperation I ordered one. The item is in the shape of an "L" with an elastic rubber band that wraps around the stem and snaps on the other side. On a large enough pole, this is absolutely perfect. But the center post of my tripod was too small. So I removed the rubber band and cut a piece of UHMW (plastic) to go through the back and then drilled the appropriate holes. Add a few screws with wing nuts and now it fits perfectly. But here's the best: This thing looks amazingly accurate for the price. I leveled the tripod, then loosened the spirit level and rotated it north, south, east, west and the spirit level showed the legs were level. This is how creativity wins back. But the product was a real star - if it hadn't been accurate from the start, it would have been hard not to have.
