I have used this product on my hair hoping to really hide gray roots. I have used the same color from this brand in the past but not in the Color the Gray line and while the color stays on most of my hair, the hair around my head turned gray again within a few weeks. So I have a problem with new hair turning gray and washing out the color from previously colored hair. With Color the Gray, in the first step, a mixture is used that dyes the hair light orange, and then, after washing out the first, a darker shade is used. I couldn't get an even color because the gray was still there in some places when the process was complete. After a few days, three colors appeared on my head: gray, orange, and the desired brown. I left the first mixture for 15 minutes. and the second color at 2 o'clock. Over time, more brown will be washed out, leaving more orange and returning the gray roots. I like to have a root color product between treatments when combined with the rest of the hair.
