I used to glue my tires, but it is a very tedious job. Taped tires have always been considered "slowerβ. I went through all this and decided to try duct tape. The assembly was very easy and due to the tape worth any superstitious "indolence". I applied the tape starting at the valve hole and gently tugged on the tape to give it some tension. Go slow and the tape will land straight and level. Using a small, thin, sharp knife, it's fairly easy to remove some of the plastic from the tape. I mounted my pre-stretched tire and added a few psi. Flatten the tire and add another pump or two. Smooth out a little more and add another pump or two. If everything looks good, peel off the tape hanging on the tire and inflate to full pressure. The result is a durable and very direct pipe rail application. I don't know what it will be like to remove the tire and tape, but removal is never easy. Maybe I'll wait 10 years for everything to dry to a crisp and then just fall off? :) BTW, after sticking the tape on two discs, I had about 2 inches left. Don't waste your tape because they won't give you much more.
