Review on 🌊 Waterproof Yellow Hiking GPS - Garmin Geko 201 by James Cross

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great minimalist GPS, but .

I replaced a larger, older, heavier Garmin GPS with this for hiking - works great and is easy to carry and use. I just want to add one caveat - the serial port is covered by a thin rubber protector - and the second time I ripped off the separately purchased adapter cable, I tore the rubber in half. It wasn't a Garmin cable so it might have been sturdier than the real thing and it was my fault but be careful when using the serial port. , so you'll either have to buy Mapsource - the cheapest version will do as GPS doesn't support maps - or find another software. I couldn't get Google Earth to read it directly, but that might be because I had to use a USB to serial converter - my laptop doesn't have a serial port. But I was able to read the data with MapSource and feed it into Google Earth - very cool! I think the only thing I don't like is that there is a lot of data available on the trip computer screen, but you can only view four fields at a time. Also, my gecko doesn't have that cute green gecko on the front!
