Fast modem but can be tricky to install

I bought this modem for my home when I switched to Comcast Xfinity. NOTE - This is a modem only. It does not include a wireless router. I bought a new Synology RT2600ac wireless router to connect to a modem wirelessly. The cable man installed a NetGear modem and at first it seemed to work. But when I connected a couple of Wi-Fi routers to the modem with wires, like in my previous setup, I couldn't access the internet through them. I was able to connect directly to the network via modem using an ethernet cable, but the wireless routers would not connect. I called NetGear tech support twice and they didn't help much. They told me that there must be something wrong with my wireless router as I can connect with the cable. A few days later, Xfinity sent another technician, but he couldn't figure out the problem either. I then spoke to Xfinity and they directed me upstairs to a fairly senior network specialist. After about an hour they decided I had some kind of "network problem" and made an appointment with another technician to call home. The same problem. It turns out the four ports on the back of a Netgear modem don't work the same way. Only LAN1 should be used to connect the router! I assume the other ports are for future device updates (as DOCSIS 3.1 evolves). However, slots 2-4 are now useless. So I disconnected both routers, restarted the modem, and then only connected one router to the modem's LAN1 port. It worked and I have great speeds (up to 500Mbps) through my new Synology WiFi router (I have 1Gbps service from Comcast). I will buy a Synology MR2200 Mesh Router to extend my WiFi coverage throughout my house.
