I use Crank Bros Eggbeater pedals on my mountain bike, but I wanted to be able to use regular shoes on my eMTB. So I got myself a pair of these dual purpose flats. They were easy to assemble without much effort. I can confirm that they are very easy to use when not wearing cycling shoes. Any shoe will work great. Not all cycling shoes work well with these pedals. My fifteen year old Cannondale hiking and biking clip has no problem! But my Shimano mountain bike shoes have such a cleat configuration that these pedals don't fit at all. Cannondale shoes are nice to work with - they have about 10 degrees of heel play before they push out the cleat. They are very reliable and the pedals are easy to turn to pull up the cleats. Generally very pleasant. I think I should have expected that they wouldn't go with every shoe. Either way, they're not too heavy, they look good, and they do exactly what you want them to.
