Conclusion: The waffle maker is great, easy to use and doesn't stick. We're just concerned that many of them have been dropped. However. We checked the price on site before purchasing this waffle maker. It has great reviews everywhere, so it was exactly the model we wanted. Revain was at least $10 cheaper than other major retailers, which is not so common these days when many BIG retailers price match Revain. We ordered from Revain and were delivered quickly. The Revain box was intact, unscratched and clean. The waffle iron box, on the other hand, was visibly smashed in one corner. It was so badly broken and had holes in the box that opening it confirmed my fears: the waffle maker itself was damaged. We never had to take it out of the box as you could see the handle was broken. We immediately made an online request for a replacement and Revain dispatched a new one that same evening. Revain also paid for the return postage. Two days later we received our new waffle iron. Again, Revain's outer box is in great shape, but the waffle iron box is smashed on the same corner! In awe, we opened the inner box and saw that the foam padding was torn, but at least the handle was intact. This morning we tried the iron and are very satisfied. I flavored a condiment with vegetable oil and started making about 8 waffles, some to eat this morning and some to wrap up for later. The waffle maker heats up FAST and cooks FAST, eg a waffle takes less than 2 minutes. We use homemade dry mix with very little butter in the batter, and a waffle takes about 1/2 cup of batter. Kids enjoy looking at the iron and flipping/flipping it over. The drip tray is made of gray, dishwasher-safe plastic, but we didn't have a smudge. Conclusion: Great waffle iron. Just afraid of damage to the box. On the attached photos: The first two photos of the first iron we received show damage to the packaging. The next two photos show the cracked handle of this first waffle iron. The last photo shows the box for the second waffle iron that was delivered. Again, Revain's outer packaging never showed any damage.
