It's well bound and better than printer paper, but it doesn't erase very well and smudges more easily than some of my previous sketchbooks (which were cheap unbranded books). The soiling of the paper makes me fear that I'll ruin old sketches when flipping through the book simply because the pages are rubbing against the pages in front. I use a regular HB lead, I wouldn't use anything softer with this book. I would recommend trying another product, Canson seems to make really good sketchbooks.
