Everything you need in one basic set

I can't tell you how many times I've almost ordered this set. I'm not an avid biker, just a normal dad who likes to ride my bike from time to time. My bike is old but it still works great. Well, it mostly works fine. Recently I had problems with the rear wheel. I won't go into all of the terminology (because I'm probably misunderstanding it), but it mostly slips when I'm trying to peddle. I took it to my local bike shop and they said I needed to get a new wheel (over $100) or a new bike (closer to $800 because mine was so old). I remembered friends from when I was younger who repackaged their camps and thought I might at least try before I gave up. I could do all this for about $5 if I could find the right tools. I was able to borrow some of these from some enthusiastic bikers I know and with a little help, YouTube took care of everything in their own garage. And guess what, it solved my problem! So now you're wondering why I'm writing a review here when I could borrow the tools I needed and my bike is working perfectly. Well I had to do a bit of phoning and listening to a few different people to find everything I needed. That's because I was cheap and impatient and wanted it fixed right away rather than waiting a week or more for delivery. You see, the toolkit I found, like this one, was more expensive and on a different site with slower shipping. If I had ordered this beforehand I would have been done. Over the years I've acquired some of the tools already included here, but there are a few more specific ones that I've never really believed in until now. For the price of two of these specialty tools, you can get this complete kit that has pretty much everything you'll ever need unless you're trying to become a pro. Some of the tools are probably cheaper, but they are more than enough for me. The included instructions aren't great, but the pictures are clear and with a little internet searching you can figure out how to do what you need. The only thing that confused me a little was that the instructions show a picture of a 15mm pedal wrench. This tool is not included. It includes a 15mm cone wrench that may work instead, so it's not a big deal to me. I also noticed that the spoke wrench is not 9mm like the one I already have. It's not the size of my spokes (plus I never knew how to fix tires) so it's not a big problem for me either. Also, there's a bit of room in the case, I just tossed it in (in case a friend ever needs it), along with some extra flat repair tools and some extra tire levers. It far outperforms the plastic bag I carried everything in. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this set. Unless you're looking for professional tools that cost 10x or more, I highly recommend this article.

Pros
  • This bike tool set is easy to use as it keeps all the tools in place
Cons
