Thermostat broken, thermometer OK

I tried using this thermostat with a heating pad in my snake terrarium and it didn't hold the temperature very well. I still use it as a smart thermometer to control the temperature from my phone, but I use a separate reptile thermostat to regulate the temperature. The temperature reading is accurate, but the thermostat function didn't work for me.
