Review on 🔥 Mishimoto MMRAD-PRO-03: High-Performance Aluminum Radiator for Mazda Protégé 2001-2003 by Jermaine Krishnamoorthy

Required item for performance tuning; Some knowledge of electrical wiring required

Some time before I bought this heatsink + fan shroud (sold separately: Mishimoto MMFS-PRO-03 Mazda Protege fan shroud kit, 2001-2003, silver), I took to the local Time Attack shares events and puts a heavy load on the car. Soon the anemic stock radiator failed and my car started overheating. So I set about replacing the entire cooling unit. The setup really does its job. During my downtime between races, I never had to open the hood or relax/pause races due to rising temperatures. With the old cooling block, after hard runs, the temperature was about 10-15 degrees above the standard operating temperature, but with this new block, the temperature does not rise above the standard values at all. As a bonus, the radiator and fan shroud kit above is generally thinner than the old radiator and fan shroud assembly, giving you a little more room to mount your manifold or turbocharger system. As a side note, if you're buying a fan shroud kit, be aware that there are no pigtail connectors on the shroud that go directly into sockets on the car. It has crimp terminals on 14 gauge wire so some modification is required.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Interchangeable
