Work in good sunlight or with a good lamp.
Working with dark threads on black Aida canvas is definitely a challenge. Don't choose this as your first cross stitch project. Set it aside until you make something on the white Aida fabric and mix up the threads, use different types of stitches etc. I used extra metal threads for feathering to make my butterfly iridescent. It's really outrageous. I really like Dimensions cross stitch kits. They have beautiful colors, the threads are already sorted, the instructions are complete and you can use several different types of stitches.
