I just had a company installing James Hardy cement siding in my home and wanted something better than that particular company's plastic outdoor light fixture they use. They are very strong and almost exactly the slope of my siding. You could cover each gap with some chalk or do what I did and that was cut the back of the fasteners to fit my side panel exactly. It wasn't difficult and didn't take much time; and you only do it once TIP***: If you want to paint the mounts I would suggest using fine sandpaper and sanding the surface for a good paint "key". I personally found spray paint at Home Depot that almost matched my siding; already painted at the factory.
