Review on Tacx Smart Direct Drive Trainer by Jose Guevara

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Failed in Less Than Two Months

This treadmill lasted less than 60 days before it started creaking, squeaking and grinding. It could no longer be used. Luckily Garmin support was great and sent a replacement, but it doesn't look like the previous version's issues have been fixed. When it worked, the trainer was great when used with Zwift: responsive, good road feel, easy to set up. Update 1: Garmin shipped a refurbished drive that was thrown into a badly damaged box. The box was not properly packed (the block was literally thrown into a cardboard box) and the axis of the block was sticking through the box on arrival. The plastic case was damaged by the impact and looked like it had been dropped. Needless to say, the device is not working properly. Return to Garmin Support to see if I can get a THIRD device and get what I paid for. I've had a third device for about a year now and I'm very happy with it, but I definitely wouldn't buy it again. given the problems. Other manufacturers are actively moving into the budget direct drive intelligent trainer market, and also offer better value, features and reliability.
