Review on 🚲 Yakima TubeTop Adapter: Efficient Solution for Hitch Bike Racks by Lance Foster

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Sturdy block with ends to protect the bike - very happy with this adapter.

The Yakima has a certain weight and feels very solid. The ends are fully covered in a rubber-plastic coating that feels durable so metal-to-metal contact won't scratch or damage the bike. I also looked at the Allen adapter as it has a spring to hold tension on the handlebars when installed whereas the Yakima does not have a spring. I chose the Yakima for two reasons: I use a Yakima Ridgeback hitch and the ends of the Yakima knot are very close together. Of course I'm assuming any device will work with a bike mount, but I've just decided that since I'm new to using these types of devices I'd use a device from the same manufacturer as the mount in the hopes , this will avoid all sorts of problems. The concern I had about the Yakima not having a spring to maintain tension turned out not to be an issue as the rubberized ends grip the bike so I couldn't see any movement of the bike in the handlebars after riding when I was riding arrived and checked movement . Is the Yakima worth the extra money compared to the Allen block? As I didn't use an allen block I can't answer that question but I feel like I got good value for money. Money spent on the Yakima block.
