Not safe to use

This device has a design flaw which may result in painful bruising of the arm. The screws on the inner tube are in full contact with the outer tube, as the tubes slide freely you can hit your skin between these screws and the outer tube and get a bad bruise. Learned from my own experience. Revain has at least one slightly cheaper competitor that is free of this shortcoming and is also a bit easier to use. Unlocking the end loops requires strong pressure on a small edge and may not be possible…

Very easy to use feels durable

I have a platform rack for my car so the sole purpose of this extension was to attach my carbon fiber bikes to my work rack. This pole is perfect. It's a lot stronger and prettier than I actually need, but I'm glad I spent the extra money. I leave the bar locked to the stand and just pop the bike in. It's as quick and easy as attaching it to the stand itself. This approach causes the bike to wobble, but that's not a problem and not the fault of the extension. Happy customer, would recommend to…

  • Durable finish

  • Definitely a bad product

I hate that I had to buy this

Can be freely attached to the bike. Jumping and swinging doesn't hurt. I do not understand. I don't like the attachment points on the Yakima Ridgeback series hitches. They are very strict and only fit men's hardtails/road bikes (horizontal top tube). Every other bike really needs one of these to set it up for its intended purpose. Of the five bikes I have, only two fit well. The other three should probably have one of those bars. This significantly increases the cost of the trunk, increases…

Works, less flexible adjustment than others

I have a 10 year old version of this Thule and bought a Yakima when we added another bike with a medium inseam and needed another adapter. The Yamaha works quite well, but compared to the Thule, it's a lot slacker and less adjustable than the Thule. Thule has some slip resistance while Yakima slides freely. This might seem like an advantage to some, but being used to Thule's stiffness, picking up a Yakima often surprises me. At least I haven't tripped over anything yet (wheel, leg, etc.) but I…

Sturdy block with ends to protect the bike - very happy with this adapter.

The Yakima has a certain weight and feels very solid. The ends are fully covered in a rubber-plastic coating that feels durable so metal-to-metal contact won't scratch or damage the bike. I also looked at the Allen adapter as it has a spring to hold tension on the handlebars when installed whereas the Yakima does not have a spring. I chose the Yakima for two reasons: I use a Yakima Ridgeback hitch and the ends of the Yakima knot are very close together. Of course I'm assuming any device will…

WOW too difficult to open!

I bought this for my daughter's bike to match our new Yakima Ridgeback 4 which I was given as a tribute to my amazing new Nissan Rogue SUV. I'm in love with the rack but that's another review. Anyway, today was the first time we loaded bikes onto a luggage rack. To be honest I think this adapter is way better than the old ones we had years ago when the kids were little. I was very surprised and impressed by the rubberized ends and the good fit around the handlebar post and stem. A big problem…
