Review on 🚲 Yakima TubeTop Adapter: Efficient Solution for Hitch Bike Racks by Djuan Thompson

Works, less flexible adjustment than others

I have a 10 year old version of this Thule and bought a Yakima when we added another bike with a medium inseam and needed another adapter. The Yamaha works quite well, but compared to the Thule, it's a lot slacker and less adjustable than the Thule. Thule has some slip resistance while Yakima slides freely. This might seem like an advantage to some, but being used to Thule's stiffness, picking up a Yakima often surprises me. At least I haven't tripped over anything yet (wheel, leg, etc.) but I have to remember to be more careful when taking Yakima. Another difference is that Thule allows you to rotate the tubes relative to each other. while Yakima does not allow rotation. This makes attaching the Yakima to the bike a bit more difficult. The Thule I own is honestly quite old and it's possible that the current Thule model was redesigned in the same way as this Yakima.
