Firstly for both the derailleur and derailleur - if you ride the casing end to end this is just about enough. If you walk along the frame at times, you have little room for error. Secondly, the cables are definitely long enough for the front and rear. You need real body scissors when working with the body. If you have a dull or cheap regular wire cutter you will damage the case. I bought cable and case cutters from here for about $15, the red handle name starts with an "m".
