The people I dealt with were fine! Hard drive - no. I bought it for my surveillance system so it always works. The FIRST was pretty loud and hot. I changed it to SECOND because I was concerned about its durability and the high temperatures that would fry the hard drive and monitoring electronics. The SECOND was worse. It sounded like it was banging the read/write heads about once a minute and the temperature on the top of the drive was about 120°F in an open, well-ventilated room. I have a competitor's hard drive from another manufacturer Bought. Its temperature is consistently at or below 90F and does the same. it's also much quieter, with no headbutts.
