This pad is just what I needed so I could jack up our new car for a tire change. The flat surface (as opposed to the notched shell on the jack) not only allows for butt-joint lifting, but a few other lifting options without damaging the car. I like being able to put the car on four jacks to spin the wheels and when I put jacks (with similar rubber V-lugs) on the four points of the jack I don't have a safe place to put the jack to deliver. This pad allows for other options as it spreads the pressure over a wider area, so there is no risk of bending metal on the now thinner structural members underneath the new car.
