This is a great alternative to many scan tools from well-known manufacturers. (Obviously it's not a GM Tech-II.) This device offers bi-directional vehicle control, so you can test different things. So far I haven't really used it (I'm not a mechanic) but I don't doubt its capabilities. I've been playing with the transmission controls (which gear you're in) and EGR on/off. When monitoring/testing the EGR you are only allowed to run it for 30 or 60 seconds (I'm sure this was built in as a safety precaution). I can also check the injector balance on my Duramax. I bought this primarily for ABS bleed, TPMS programming, electronic parking brake (EPB) and oil life reset. The main kit comes with many different adapters to connect to vehicles, most of which I've never seen and probably never will use. I don't know how much it will cost to keep getting updates for it after 2 years, but we'll see what happens. Hopefully the device doesn't cost half as much. Definitely my biggest "tool" purchase, but it's nice to have when you need it, and with new cars that have more and more electronics, hopefully this thing pays off.
