First, let me explain what we wanted to remove. We accidentally used "carpet seam tape" instead of regular carpet tape to get a small 18 x 28 rug under our feet on the two-seater (one on each side). When we went to pick up the mats the mess of the seam tapes was amazing. Thick, 4 stripes, on the carpet below. And I mean FAT. On the first day of the removal attempt, we used Goof Off Wipes. With a whole box they removed most of the residue but we had to clean the scrub, wipe the scrub etc but we still couldn't finish the job. Someone on Revain recommended using Undo. Roger that. Didn't do anything special. So I decided to try Goo Gone. There wasn't much hope. Started spraying and using a terry towel on the side we were working on. Oh my God! Started removing the leftovers. Quite easy. I still had to work, but not as much as other things we used. So I turned my attention to the thick residue under the other side. I sprayed it on, started working with a terry towel and there you go. I then washed the carpet and had to do a bit of work to get everything else out, but that was done in about 1/100th the time I worked on it yesterday with other stuff. With the other stuff we used, my fingertips got dried out and flaky (my fault for not wearing gloves), but since it feels greasy, it didn't do the same to my hands. I can't tell you how happy I am. To be honest, I almost burst into tears last night when I saw our ruined carpet. We moved in a year ago, new carpet and now because of my stupidity in using the wrong carpet tape the carpet is ruined. My husband was convinced that we only needed to carpet the remaining area because we couldn't afford new carpet. So I can honestly say that Goo Gone saved the day and the carpet.
