Difficult to use for cables and connections

I have been making patch cords and point to point cables for 23 years, since 1998. I've made hundreds! When I installed a new patch panel and switch at home, I finally ran out of connectors from the batch I bought 10-15 years ago. They've been passable and I've had very few cancellations over the years. The thing is, doing it has almost become second nature to me. Well, it seemed like almost everything available today was pass-through, so I bought a new tool and connectors. In fact I bought 3 different connectors to evaluate each before buying a new large batch. I'll review them separately, but these connectors are pretty bad! I need 3-4 times more time or even more to get them working. The wire channels for the older connectors started wider and were more pronounced, and getting the wires right was a breeze. These are much more difficult! The channels start towards the end and are less pronounced. Sometimes it takes several attempts before the cables are connected to the desired channel. And if they don't, you won't be able to thread the wires, which I think is good, but still difficult to manage. Now I will keep trying and maybe there is a trick. Considering I've never used pass-through, I always limit my wastage. I pull back an inch, straighten, trim to 3/8" and paste. I still subtract an inch with them, I just trim a little at the end and leave them about 3/4" long, but I have to maybe strip 2" and use longer wires if I try to thread them. But even if it works, it means I lose a foot of wire for every 6 wires I make. Not good! Bottom line, I give so give them a 2. They get a 2 because they end up doing what they want but it's not easy to work with them. They waste my time and waste cables. For me, these providers do it for everyone Plugs save a tiny bit of plastic which makes them more money while making my job a lot harder!
