Poor design/defective construction/gate returned

A few problems with this thing.1. It doesn't really cover the supposed 38-inch gap. The fact that you have to apply some force to the pads and the device itself is fragile means that it applies some force that you will eventually run out of filament, even at a distance of up to 36 inches. is tightly closed.2. This may have been an isolated case, but the gap between the gate's locking mechanism and the bolt's counterpart was so great that they could not connect. This seems to be a design flaw as I didn't notice any warping and the gate turned out to be square and level with the entrance. device as the extensions are plastic and do not fit securely into the metal tube. They slide straight when the device is tilted. You have to glue them on, but then you can just buy gates that work without the need for a field technician.
