Review on ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Dremel 456 1-1/2" Reinforced Rotary Tool Cut-Off Wheel - 10 Pack, Gray: High-Efficiency Cutting Solution for Precision Projects by Jim Martin

Seriously, WTH can't handle these washers, Dremel?

Cuts just as well as the smaller (and much easier to buy) 426 wheels Includes a set of two washers that you MUST use. One is just a washer and the other has a nipple that fits into the hole in the washer, with a hole in the center of the nipple that is the size of a regular Dremel arbor screw. My pucks had a nipple that stuck out a bit too far so this mess couldn't be blocked properly. Fixed five seconds with a file and from that point the wheels worked fine. Each package comes with a set of these washers, but they can easily fall and (probably) get lost. I would keep them as backups if you get a new set. Personally, I bought a new mandrel because of those shims and just dedicated it to those 456 wheels so I didn't have to fiddle with shims while I switched to a buff or whatever. I only have to mess with these things when I need a new 456 wheel. Honestly, why would they make them with an oversized bore that requires a pretty rustic shim solution? It's inelegant to say the least and downright awkward to install. It's like they buy them from another manufacturer who doesn't make the hole small enough so the dremel has to include those stupid washers. Serious? Dremel, could you do this better? Shims are LARGE making the effective cutting radius SMALLER than 426 1.25" blades. With? They cut well, but the large washers completely negate the extra radius when you need a shallow cut, such as removing a welded nut from a car frame where the head needs to be flush with the frame. The increased thickness of the washer this means the head will enter the steel frame at some angle, making the cut less smooth and causing the wheel to lock up and possibly damaging the dremel tool. This will cause the radius to actually stop at the edge of the washer . This makes it the same size as the smaller red cutting discs (model 409?). Two stars for a very basic five star product. Thanks for the big center hole, Dremel. It makes no sense and ruins this wheel for certain purposes.
