I needed to replace my Coralife skimmer which I have had for about 12 years now. Now that I've finally come to terms with my old skimmer, I could never trust it, and when it came time to take it off for a long overdue cleaning, I just couldn't bring myself to put it back in my tank ( I had some overflow problems in the past). After some research I decided to take a leap of faith and bought this skimmer. So far I am very happy with the purchase. Unlike Coralife, which requires you to adjust the water level, which can be very problematic, the BH-2000 is designed to automatically control the water level, and foam dispensing is controlled by raising or lowering the collection. mug, much better design. The inlet and outlet are well designed and are more of a rigid tube than a pipe, which is a plus. As others have said, this unit lacks instructions and a real lack of information, making it difficult to know if it will fit my 1.25" plastic rim tank (it did). I would also be skeptical of the claims as I'm used to most aquarium equipment. This skimmer fits my 75 gallon tank. The pump is also a bit noisy, it got a lot quieter after a few days. The device is easy to assemble and well thought out. In fact, I have a lot more confidence in this design than I have in my latest skimmer, which is worth its weight in gold. It seems to be taking off really well after a few days and I'd like to know what I'm doing now before I buy my newest skimmer. I would buy this skimmer again. carrier so I was worried about what I would find inside. except for the drip tray which had a crack in one of the top corners. As it was in the top corner and not quite quite it will not affect performance but it should have been shipped in a different box. and helped calm the flow of water. It also helped lower the water level in the foam chamber, reducing the likelihood of the system overflowing, which was also desirable for me. Once installed the main issue seems to be the rumble of the pump which depending on how sensitive you are to noise can be a deal breaker but I don't find that too much of an issue and it quieted down a bit after that. few days. The main problem for me is that I don't get an overflow when the power has been interrupted. The system reverses when the power is turned off and when it is turned back on the water management is automatic by design, so unlike the other I don't see this as a potential problem (at least with the return elbow removed). Skimmer who will remain nameless. . .
