Perch too small for a chicken

Our girls love it, but for a bigger bird like the hen, such a small pole diameter doesn't make sense. The perch should be larger, chickens have larger legs, it is difficult for them to resist. We changed it by replacing the perch with a much thicker dowel which made our purchase more viable than we could have made it ourselves. Good idea, but this product is made more for smaller birds like parrots with smaller legs.
