We bought this set to donate to a family in need and I'm impressed. You get a lot for your money. Add-ons aside, the knives themselves are amazing. The shaft is surrounded by a resin grip. I've been tempted to buy knives with wooden handles, but I have absolutely no interest in handwash knives. The larger knives shine the most in this set. They are important to keep and sharp. I tried a chef's knife and it cut through a sheet of paper (see my video). The block looks like it's made out of walnut wood; it is really beautiful. My husband had to keep reminding me that we don't keep this set as much as I would have liked.
