There are valves in the shower "Adjust the temperature, not the flow". I attached it exactly where the water exits the shower head to the wall pipe and then attached the shower head hose to the other side of the valve. Everything is ready! I can slow it down a little, a lot, or turn it off completely with this little thing. As far as I can tell, it's full metal. It's solid, clean, well designed in my opinion and hasn't rusted or discolored in the slightest in the time I've owned it. 4 months old now so that's a good start. The valve spins easily and smoothly throughout the range once I "play" with it for the first time. It wasn't stiff on its own, but when it was brand new I had to fully open/close it 2 or 3 times to get it running smoothly. beautiful and does not seem to rust! I am very happy.
