Impressions from the purchase are good, buy.

A little backstory. I develop websites and write code. In addition to good performance, the main requirements for a laptop were a comfortable and reliable keyboard and the ability to work offline when the lights go out at home. My previous laptop Dell Inspirion 5368 ran for 40 minutes on battery and two of its keyboards had already broken. I chose between the line of Dell Latitude and Lenovo Thinkpad. The Latitude was repulsed by the fact that the keyboard there is the same as I broke, at least outwardly. According to the characteristics and budget, this device approached. I looked at the same 15-inch one, but in normal stores with pick-up points, only 14-inch ones were available, and only the Intel version. I was afraid to bring 70k to an unfamiliar store. Complete set 20TA002ERT Intel Core i5 1135G7, 16Gb RAM and 256Gb SSD. After ordering, I found out that the configuration on AMD and Intel versions is different. Intel does not have soldered RAM, only one slot, which is occupied by a 16Gb board. In general, of course, it is not critical, but there will be no two-stream anymore. Well, one free slot for the SSD M2 2280. You will have to insert a disk there later.

Pros
  • In general, I liked the device, the materials are good, high-quality, good assembly. The keyboard is generally beyond praise, comfortable key travel, soft and elastic pressing. If you get used to it, you can use the trackpoint in some situations, it is more convenient, but of course it requires conscious getting used to. Good performance. I thought my Dell Inspirion 5368 with 8Gb of RAM suits me, but now I sit down at it and it seems that it slows down. Normal battery life. Not a record, of course, but for 4-5 hours of full-fledged work is enough.
Cons
  • First of all, I would like to note the screen. And here it's not about brightness or color reproduction, everything is on the level and does not cause discomfort even when working with graphics (I develop websites and get layouts from the designer in Photoshop). The point is PWM, sometimes flickering is directly noticeable to the naked eye, for example, on a dark screen and with dimmed brightness, it is very uncomfortable to work in this mode. At a brightness of 80-100%, you don’t notice this and everything is in order. There is an even less annoying moment, but nonetheless. When running on battery power in battery saver mode and Improved Battery, the laptop reduces the color and brightness of the display to reduce power consumption, which is generally not bad, but at some random moments it sometimes temporarily returns it to its previous level, and this is sometimes noticeable. Hopefully this will be fixed with driver ates regarding the new Intel Iris XE Graphics. Further, rather than shortcomings, just personal inconvenience when moving from Dell Inspirion. The absence of an automatic mode for the keyboard backlight, you can not set it, it automatically turned on when using the keyboard. The card reader is missing. Of course, this is solved externally for 300, but it's still somewhat inconvenient. Well, of course, I would like one more USB port in this case, so that you do not have to turn off the mouse. Under load, it heats up to the left of the touchpad, under the left palm. Not critical at all, but I don't really like it. You get used to the non-standard location of Fn-Ctrl, and not Ctrl-Fn, in another week of use.
