Not compatible with FlightAware

Overall I've been pleased with the Nano2 radios over the past year. Heat issues noted by others can be reduced by removing the plastic covers. However, I've been using them at a Piaware station in a location other than my main Piaware for over 8 months. It always received about 60-70% more planes than the main station, which I explain with the location (below the ridge line). In theory it should have been better; 1 meter of coaxial cable between antenna and radio instead of 10 meters makes a big difference at these frequencies. When I lost access to the website, I moved it to the main train station and started using it for experiments. With almost the same antenna height, it received only 40% more transmitters than the main receiver. Over the past week I've increased the soundproofing on all components, I haven't noticed any differences. The FlightAware "Orange" receiver arrived today and I hooked it up in place of the 1090MHz Nano2. The difference is amazing. After 2 minutes of booting, the test station heard slightly more stations than my reference station. Maximum reception range jumped from 60-80 miles to 120+. The difference to a tuned built-in preamp is noticeable. Although the Nano2 is a good general purpose SDR, if you are building a Piaware station for FlightAware (and have room in your setup) use an FA radio instead.
