Good and inexpensive kit. An important detail of these little SDRs is that they generate A LOT OF HEAT. I measured about 250mA (1W) in normal operation. I don't recommend plugging them directly into USB ports. At first glance this seems like a good idea since the USB assembly is metal and can dissipate some of the heat. However, the connections are made of plastic on the inside and are subjected to high temperatures, which they are not designed for. It is better to mount them via OTG cables and

Seems to work well with Stratux

Still testing them with a Stratux setup. I used the full size SDRs and they worked fine but didn't fit in the white Stratux case. Tried the more expensive Nano 3s but they seemed a lot less sensitive than the "regular" SDRs and got pretty hot even with the case fan on. The sensitivity of the Nano 2 seems to be good both when using ADS-B and when using radio programs on the home computer. Yes the covers have to be removed to attach the Stratux and this version has a bright white LED which will…

I'll be happy to improve my rating and change my rating if .

I purchased this kit as part of the instructions for assembling the Stratux ADS-B block. During the build process I found that the two NooElec NESDR blocks did not fit together in the Raspberry Pi as suggested in the instructions. As far as I can tell this kit is sold almost exclusively to be installed on the Raspberry Pi and it is impossible to complete the build. I am happy to improve my rating and change my rating if the seller finds a solution. UPDATE: A simple fix to the above problem is…

Beautifully packaged set but they work HOT!

Update 10/2020: Unit 978 is completely out of service so I can't rate the durability of these units highly. I downgraded the rating to 3 stars. What's good: The units are well packaged, including carefully labeled printed stickers, including a serial number for each recipient. This kit comes with a good combination of antennas and matching adapters. Cons: They get too hot. I use them on the Pi3B+ for dual band software; A few minutes later I got a CPU overheating warning. At first I thought it…

Not compatible with FlightAware

Overall I've been pleased with the Nano2 radios over the past year. Heat issues noted by others can be reduced by removing the plastic covers. However, I've been using them at a Piaware station in a location other than my main Piaware for over 8 months. It always received about 60-70% more planes than the main station, which I explain with the location (below the ridge line). In theory it should have been better; 1 meter of coaxial cable between antenna and radio instead of 10 meters makes a…

Great value for money for cars and car electronics

This SDR works very well for me. I've used it with various software packages including AirSpy gqrx. I also made some designs with Gnuradio. I've used SDR on my desktop and Raspberry Pi 3 with very good results. I originally bought this to make a dedicated ADS-B receiver, but it turned out to be too useful to be used for just one purpose. I used it to study the design of software radios and digital filters. I also use it as a universal radio. I added the HamItUp converter which also gave great…
