His problem may be with his Ford built Focus and not that EGR pipe. There is room in the flange for bolt play, moreover for such a situation the actual tube is attached to the flange and then properly welded to the copper tube. only welded on the outside of the flange, which breaks off over time. Bending this tube in a vise is beating. If the car has not been perfectly placed in this area (from the exhaust manifold to the EGR) there will be play in the flange and it is possible to pull the EGR to the side or closer to the pipe if there is not enough clearance to adjust the clearance.
