Bought a NAS for home after having bad experience with D-Link Amazon-325 (Feroceon 88FR131 @400MHz, 256MB). I was ready for thenetwork exchange speed to be at the level of 20Mb / s write, 70Mb / s read. As a result, the result exceeded expectations. But first of all, I wanted to get rid of the brake and wonderful firmware. Why is she weird? I'm used to the simpleorganization of disk space, without LVM, tricky partition table, non-obvious numbering and unreadable partition labels. However, native firmware, when adding a disk via the web interface, creates 3 LVM partitions on the disk: - 100 MB - 100 MB - and all the remaining space if you choose the full use of disk space. In addition to this, reading data from such a disk is not verycomnvenient, especiallycomnsidering that by default the created partition is included in RAID0. Inside the firmware is a very stripped-down Linux, with strange services starting by default. For example, on a device that was just turned on, 2 processes of 2 different HTTPDs wererunning, listening on different ports. A bunch of small demons were also launched, which were not included in the web interface settings. I was not ready for this, and decided to install a simple Debian. The solution was found quickly ( . Php?2,88619 ). As a result, the box is loaded from a small flash drive inserted into one of the USBcomnnectors, the minimum necessary is installed in this system (NFS, Samba, SSH, Syncthing, minidlna, deluge, etc.).Configuration via thecomnsole, which is many times morecomnvenient and clear than the non-obviouscomnfiguration via the web interface.
