Make up your own mind!

Crochet hooks seem to be one of the most controversial items in the world of needlework, which can spark a lively discussion about which is more comfortable to hold, smoothest goes through the yarn without breaking the thread, is the most ergonomic , has the softest pen, etc. etc. While I've personally come to love Etimos as my personal favorite, it's been a journey that has taken some time and patience, and there are other hooks that work well for specific projects as well. Like many other objects we use in a life of many choices, what is great for one person is terrible for another, and it's all a matter of individual choice. So here it is. I learned the hard way what I recommend to you now: Before you invest a lot of money in a specific brand: choose a hook size or two that you use the most and buy ONE of them from the brand that you use the most interested, be it Etimo, Bates, Boyle, Clover, Odyssey, no name, soft or stiff, thick or thin handle, whatever you want and try him/her extensively, long and honestly with different types of yarn. I bet you'll find out what I did and that some of them are easily eliminated while others soon become favorites. No brand catches the eye and some are a better match for certain brands or yarns than others. You can end up with multiple favourites, different sizes and different brands. Etimo is my personal go-to but if you look in my hooked bag I have a good set of my other "favorites" and my bag doesn't have all the wrong "kits" that I rush and then invest in ended up giving away because they really weren't what I thought they would be in the long run. So I slowly put this set together, one hook at a time, taking only the hooks I actually use.
