I bought this as a hub for my work MacBook Pro (15 inch 2018). Based on the description of this item, I expected it to be able to charge my laptop with ease. However, I recently went into my (home) office twice in the morning only to find that my computer had a 0% charge and wasn't charging until I connected the USB-C power connector directly to one of my computer's USB ports would have. Ports C. I took screenshots (attached) of the system information when I connected the power supply directly to the computer and when I connected to a hub. As you can see, when connected to a hub, it only connects at 52 watts and directly to a laptop at 86 watts. As another reviewer pointed out, the instructions that came with the hub indicate that the connection will be 52 watts. So I feel like I have either an outdated or faulty device that doesn't meet the specifications outlined in this paragraph. Had I known it was that low I would not have bought this unit as it doesn't do what I was hoping it would. Now it's really just a dual monitor port, occupying two of my USB-C ports. I checked if the power readings changed when I unplugged the HDMI adapters and they haven't. Again, this hub doesn't charge up to 87W as advertised.
