Review on ODIER Bike Handlebar Mitts - Winter Thermal Pogies Mittens for Cyclists to Keep Hands Warm (1 Pair) by Adam Price

50 degree offset for parts and components

I have different gloves for riding in different cold temperatures. With these pogies I can run any glove 50 degrees cooler than without them. It's huge on cold Minneapolis winter days. Assembly and Installation: I had to adjust a few things on the steering wheel (computer, lights) to accommodate these pogies. This is a small price to pay for performance. They don't stay completely in place - you have to have your hands/arms in them to keep them "up" - otherwise they like to sag under the brake levers on my bike. I'll play with how they attach to the handlebars, but I think that's fine. It doesn't affect the ability to tuck my hands in and out, so I'm fine with that. Performance: I used to wear full snowmobile mittens on the coldest days, but my big toes got really cold when temperatures dropped below freezing. This morning I put on my soft gloves (which usually wear down to around 40F) with these pogies comfortably in -5F and a headwind. Using the Thinsulate Lobster glove, my hands were sweaty earlier this week in temperatures of -20°F and wind chill of -50°F. There is no comparison - they completely solved my problems with gloves in cold weather. If this raises concerns that they're too warm, I'd recommend forgoing gloves, as others have pointed out. However, when it's cold, I have a pair of thicker gloves in case of a mechanical breakdown or other unforeseen problem. Quality: The workmanship is very good. I'm not sure how more expensive models can be better. Uses: As mentioned above, the gloves are easy to put on and take off as long as the gloves are not too bulky. Luckily, I don't want to use my oversized snowmobile gloves because my hands get too hot from even modest Thinsulate gloves. Overall: Highly recommended for problems caused by wind on gloves leading to cold fingers and thumbs.
