I had a hard time deciding whether to spend the extra money on a more expensive version. I'm glad I didn't because the picture quality was good enough on the cheaper one. I think if you are a builder/DIY you may benefit from the higher resolution. I just wanted it to find hot/cold spots on the walls and ceiling to see if my new home has a lack of insulation or excessive drafts. I was able to find a few issues that were pretty easy to fix and fix a draft or cold/hot spot. As an added benefit, I've found that the area around the base on the outward-facing walls has almost no insulation and causes more chill. Air seeps into the room and then into the windows! The coldest spots in my house are along the baseboard. I think it makes sense as there is nothing but wood in this area and there is no room for insulation. Now if someone invented insulated, removable mold covers that I could put on in the winter, I'd get rid of cold floors.
