EXCELLENT training collar! We bought this for our yellow lab when she was about a year old to help us step up training especially to help walk on a leash without pulling at a dog park without a leash on us to hold on and no longer jump on people as a greeting. We can't keep them out of the water so we had to buy a waterproof collar. This product was actually recommended to us by a lady we met on the beach who has two labs and has been using these collars for over 5 years and each one is still working. Our lab has been swum (fully submerged) in both salt and fresh water with a collar many times and it still works. There was no problem. There is a small cover on the collar itself that covers the charging port. Just make sure it's there. We had no issues with the collar burning our dog's neck or causing irritation. We put the collar on before we go outside and take it off when we go inside. The collar is plastic so I wouldn't leave it on your dog 24 hours a day 7 days a week as it will probably start to irritate his skin. The range is long and we like that it has different modes: beep, vibrate and then variable level. Shock. We used the beep to reinforce good behavior and after our dog got used to it for a few weeks, we introduced vibration to correct the behavior. We use shock functions infrequently and as a last resort. We have been using the collar regularly for about 6 months and it has helped a lot in training our dog. This is a great training tool. We don't actually use it that often because our dog quickly grabbed everything when she was wearing the collar and everything stuck to her. worth visiting again!). The charge lasts for several days, very impressive. This collar cannot be used with a leash. Also, the collar is very long and you can shorten it as needed to keep your dog from twisting an extra collar around their neck. You can also put the collar on top of a fabric collar if you find it thin enough. I highly recommend this collar. It's totally worth it and a solid investment in you and your pup's life.
