I love this product! I don't know why, but my guest room always smells musty. I've looked for active leaks or mold and found nothing. It just looks literally musty. I've used small Damp-Rid pouches or small Damp-Rid containers filled with crystals. They cost around $3 and last a month before the crystals dissolve. They also have an unattractive odor that is always present. I've been wanting to buy a dehumidifier but the cost of running a full size dehumidifier 24/7 is the same as an air conditioner. I had no intention of shelling out another $30-$40 a month on a utility bill for a barely used room. I saw how it came about and decided to order it because it's small, doesn't use much power and is easier to hide than a big block. Look at my picture next to a soda can and you can see how unobtrusive it is. For the price I am very satisfied! It's everything I hoped for. Sucks about a glass of water out of the room daily. the room appears drier and the musty smell is less noticeable. I can go from 5 days to 1 week without emptying it. This is very easy. You pull out the tray, open the lid and pour it down the drain. There is a drain plug on the side of the moisture tray if you wish. The device generates some heat during operation. I probably wouldn't leave it on if I was going to do an overnight trip just to be safe. As for the noise, I hardly hear it. This is a very light buzz. A full size device that you can hear throughout the house like an air conditioner. I keep one in the basement so I know how loud and expensive the big ones are. My guest room is not small. It has a queen-size bed, a desk, a TV cabinet and 2 bedside tables. There are also 2 double wardrobes. So until then I wouldn't use this for a larger kitchen or living room. medium sized bedrooms, offices or bathrooms would be ideal. Again, I absolutely think this is a bargain and it does exactly what I intended. Much better than buying and replacing Damp-Rid canisters every month and smelling less. I tried it in my bedroom which is larger and very little water came out. For some reason, my guest room is probably too humid.
