Tires for all-wheel-drive SUVs that are both high quality and comfy. Compared to a pure road tire, the runout isn't terrible, therefore the fuel economy hit won't be more than 5-7% higher. However, I suggest you only do so in the warmer months, as spikes are the way to go in the colder months at our latitudes. Benefits from: Excellent traction in the rain; stays put in puddles up to 120–130 mm (around 2 cm) deep. I kept my cool as I sped along at 130-140 km/h in the downpour. Smooth and able to absorb minor shocks. The difference in handling compared to standard road tires was almost negligible. There is zero noise at any speed. There is no feedback from the wheel. The stopping power is adequate on both dry and rainy roads. The road conditions aren't horrible, even with my 285/60 R18 tires. New drawbacks: people on board felt seasicker because the car now looked more like a ship. More than 140 miles per hour was considered a safe speed for highway driving. It is immediately washed away on wet clay and chernozem, although this is to be expected. It's a minor annoyance that pebbles get caught in the tread, but that's about it.
