After using a pair of these drives on one volume and a pair of Ironwolf on another, I concluded that the case heat more than 10 degrees was Ironwolf's only advantage. . No performance difference, no IOP difference, no reliability difference. Yes WD hit the Ironwolf with the WD "Red" and I can see they lack a lot of cache compared to the more expensive ones and they really are a good value WD Blue (with a higher consumer price point). So really; The blue color is realistic at least for the 12 NAS users I use on WD Blue. Including running virtual machines both locally and from disk. And it is also the place for all installed apps for 6 users. Stop wasting money on Red or Ironwolf. The fact that they add NAS to the name means nothing other than what their marketers think is the domain with the highest probability or a decent ROI. I also have low-fat sugar. (it says on the label and such). Unfortunately for too many consumers this indicates a lack of intelligence as marketers tend to do what 'sells'. Add a term of the day and some fool will think the renamed thing is better now.
